Yes. You can pause your profile if you do not want to be active for a while. Paused profiles are not visible to others – your data and connections stay in place until you come back.

To protect your privacy, what appears publicly is always your username, never automatically your real first name. Your first name is only shown to you, as a form of address – unless you deliberately share it.

On your own profile you can see how completely it is filled in and which details are still missing. Complete profiles find suitable companions faster and come across as more trustworthy.
